When a Door Opens for You, Walk Through it, and...

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 21, 2012, 4:04 PM
When a Door Opens for You, Walk through it, and Maybe You Should Slam the Door Behind You!

I guess things happen for reasons! As you all, that read my babblings here on DA know I've had a pretty crapy last few years, but I saw a door open for me and I applied for this job opening where I work, It was for my bosses job, and being fully qualified, I applied. Well, up to now I couldn't quite turn the corner of the past few years, professionally, creatively, as well as economically.
I have not been here for a few week, my extra time has been spent taking photos and working on my ailing Mac Pro, which I'm happy to report is working better than ever(finally)! The work on my photography is starting payoff though I'm still not posting anything yet! Life is starting to take some kind of order, and I'm happier than I have been in a while! Oh, that other thing, the JOB, yes, I got that too! This will be a real challenge, have had no training, and the guy that held that position is gone, retired! So, as for the last few years, I'm slamming the door behind me! I won't soon forget the lessons learned from that period in my life, and hopefully, as they say, it will make me stronger! lol The future is looking brighter, so much so I think I need a UV filter on my lens, but I also learning to live in the now something I don't think I've really ever done! It's always been about tomorrow, or yesterday!
I've gotten behind on answering some of you, so, time permitting I will try to catch up this weekend, for fear that next week is going to be very busy! I know that I have about some 2900 images to go through not counting the messages! I know it's going to take hours just to read this one persons journal, and I think you know who you are! I have missed not being here, and hearing  from you all.  GO RAVENS!

Just, Charlie

MAY BE ITS TIME TO TELL DA A LITTLE ABOUT ME!

Born in a little town in Western New York.
Did a tour in the US Navy?
I have lived in New York, New Jersey , California, Florida, Illinois, Alaska (1200 mi. west of Anchorage on the Island of Adak), and Hawaii, Spain, Greece, and now live in Maryland
I have seen 38 countries on five continents and all but one of the States of these United States
I have been a very lucky Man!
I have been married for 33 years to a Wife that I don't deserve, Three Grown Daughters, and blessed with Four lovely Grandchildren.
I have flown in a fighter jet, and have had breakfast at the foot of the Bavarian Alps.
I have jumped out of a perfectly good airplane at 12000 feet and have seen the wild life on the African Plains.
Drank home made brandy in the Greek sun while sitting on an ancient ruins, and the next day backpack the deepest gorge in Europe.
I have 4 wheeled over the Atlas Mt. in Northern Africa and eaten Sushi in Tokyo.
I have had a beers with my best buds in Sidney and in Munich as well as many other places
I have hunted big game in Alaska on the Alaskan Mts. and fished for big fish in the Caribbean
I have seen Volcanoes erupt and witnessed Earthquakes,
I have seen Rainbows every day for almost a year, really!
The best things have been, the Guest of people all over the world Germans, Greeks Italians, Mexicans, Africans, Spaniards, Brits, Japanese, Philippines, Canadians, Australians, etc.
Many of these were people of means and many people of no means.
Have cried at the death of family members and cried when holding babies just seconds old, and have laughed with friend and family until I cried.
I can still smell the sent of the markets in Europe, the flowers in Hawaii.
I can sill see the blue glow of the Alaskan snow because it was so clean and see the green of Shannon Ireland.
The bite in the air of German winter evening, and the feel the dry wind of an Israeli morning.
I can hear the Church Bells in Austria, and in my home town on Christmas morn.
Sometimes it seems like a dream!
Oh, Sooo Lucky.
